We were inspired by one of the 20th Century greatest engineers who designed most of New York long span bridges. Othmar Ammann was a great engineer graduated from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in 1902 along with Albert Einstein. Mr. Ammann wrote a report in 1907 about the collapse of Quebec Bridge and in 1940 another report about the collapse of the Tacoma Narrow Bridge (Galloping Gertie). These two reports guided the next half century of suspension bridge design. The first report paved the way for his first bridge design of the North River Bridge over the Hudson River. Mr. Ammann designed the George Washington Bridge, Bayonne Bridge, Triborough Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Delaware Memorial Bridge, Walt Whitman Bridge, Verrazzano-Narrow Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Golden Gate Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge and others.
